Born in 1971 at San Juan, Puerto Rico and raised with
strong Republican convictions, Urbina comes from a family with great dedication
to Public Service. He retired from The Army National Guard after serving for 15
years and for the last 9 years has been a member of the U.S. Coast Guard
Auxiliary.
During his teenage years, from 1985 to 1990 Urbina was
President of the New Progressive Party (PNP) Youth Organization and Young
Republicans at his hometown of Guaynabo and worked for the general elections of
1984 and 1988. During that same period of time, he was a young cadet of the
Civil Air Patrol.
While in College he campaigned and supported the island
statehood movement with the Nation, on this period of time Urbina was working
at the City of Guaynabo from 1988 to 1989 was Office Clerk of the Guaynabo City
Council, from 1989 to 1990 Guaynabo City Library Tech, 1990 to 1991 City of
Guaynabo Disaster Preparedness Specialist, 1991 to 1993 Engineering Tech
Department of Public Works Guaynabo, 1994 to 1995 Attorney Assistant Legal
Department City of Guaynabo. Simultaneously young Urbina was serving at the
Puerto Rico Army National Guard since 1989, on his civilian career he went to
work for the Puerto Rico Electric Power Authority (PREPA) from 1995 to 1996 as
IT tech/Customer Service, 1996 to 1998 Government Accounts Investigator 1998 to
2000 Statistics Analyst at Office of Budget, Statistics and Strategic Planning
and from 2000 to 2001 Network Tech at Data Center of PREPA.
Started working on the private sector back in 2001,
expanding his professional options he relocated to the State of Florida in 2005
and made Central Florida his home where he has worked ever since as an
Information Technology field professional. In 2016 he got an offer to relocate
to the Tampa Bay Area as a Cyber Security Specialist also in the private sector
and there was nothing to think about to move his family to the Bay area that he
has loved since his first visit to the area back in 1995.
His Education and Experience is on Information Technology,
Cyber Security, Emergency Management and Boating Safety. Holding Professional
Certifications on IT and Cyber Security. As an Information Technology
professional Urbina is part of InfraGard is a non-profit organization serving
as a public-private partnership between U.S. businesses and the Federal Bureau
of Investigation.
He is a rounded individual, a strong believer in National
Security, Economy and Cyber Security and committed with Public Service.
As soon as Angel S. Urbina Capo moved to Tampa he quickly
transferred his membership on the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary to Tampa’s local
flotilla and joined the City of Tampa’s Community Emergency Response Team by
getting the C.E.R.T. training to help and assist our people in any future disasters,
also he got familiar with the area to understand the needs to be improved with
the Security of our Ports and the City identifying many areas to be develop
bringing manufacture and hi-tech jobs and other service industries. The Bay
area has all the elements to develop the local economy to become the best place
to do business in the Nation. Tampa has an International Airport, Railroad
lines close to the industrial areas and a world-class Port. In the area of
education, he sees the need to develop our students to have the skills
necessary to excel in college but also on trades. Urbina believes in an
integral education that includes; Sciences, Language, Math, and Arts.
